5 reasons why being present makes YOU happier!
We've all heard the phrase, "live in the moment" at some point in our lives.  When you heard it, what did it mean to you?

Maybe it was after a traumatic experience or a moment of clarity that made you realise how much you may have been taking for granted.

But what does it really mean to live in the moment? Why is it so essential for our wellbeing?

Let's explore 5 reasons the power of living in the present moment can make us happier, and how it can help us appreciate ourselves and others around us.

1. Mindfulness and Gratitude
One of the most significant benefits of living in the moment is that it allows us to be more mindful, this can then lead to a greater sense of gratitude. Being mindful means being fully present in the current moment, without judgment. By doing this, we're able to acknowledge our emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as they arise. It also helps us to recognise the beauty and value in the people and things around us, instead of taking them for granted.

2. Improved Relationships
Living in the moment can also help strengthen our relationships. When we’re fully present in our interactions with others, we’re able to listen more attentively, be more empathetic, and respond with greater kindness. This can lead to a deeper connection and a better understanding of others, which can help us feel more fulfilled in our relationships.

3. Greater Peace and Happiness
Living in the moment can bring us a greater sense of peace and happiness. When we're not focused on the past or worrying about the future, we're free to enjoy the present moment fully. By being present, we're able to fully engage with life, which can lead to greater fulfillment and joy. We're also more likely to notice the small things in life that can bring us happiness, such as a beautiful sunset or a kind gesture from a stranger.

4. Increased Self-Awareness
Living in the moment is also an excellent way to cultivate self-awareness. When we're fully present, we're able to recognise our own thoughts and emotions as they arise. We can become more aware of our internal monologue and how it influences our behavior, especially how many times our 'negativity committee' holds meetings in our mind!  Increase self-awareness leads to increased self-acceptance, which can help us become more confident and fulfilled in our lives.

5. Mindful Self-Care
Finally, living in the moment can help us practice mindful self-care. When we're fully present in the current moment, we're able to recognise when we need to take a break, relax, or engage in an activity that brings us joy. By doing so, we can take better care of ourselves, both physically and emotionally, which can lead to greater well-being and fulfillment overall.

So as you can see, living in the moment is a powerful way to appreciate ourselves and others around us.

With practice, living in the moment can become a habit, which can lead to a more fulfilling and joyful life.

So the next time you find yourself feeling stressed or overwhelmed, take a few deep breaths, and remember the power of being fully present in the moment.
